Proud Liberty

Proud Liberty has a new home that I know will be very good to her!

Here is Proud Liberty!

She has been a labor of love for me over the last week. She came about when Janell of Pumpkinseeds Folk Art said "why don't you make a liberty girl"! I sketched and dreamed and bought and embellished with whatever seemed right. Taking my slowww time to complete her.

I hope she was worth the wait~

I have been tagged by an amazing NJ artist!

I was tagged by the artist who did these!
Click here www.thevintagesister.etsy.com to go to her etsy shop.

How fun!

I've been tagged by an amazing artist, Tracy from New Joisey (us Jersey gurls gotta stick together)!

I too will try and put 6 interesting things here..........ah..yeh.

Here are the Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Ok, here I go....

1. I have had memory & slight speech problems since a concussion received by another customer with a 10 foot steel pole as I was walking through a Home Depot in May 2007 (seemed funny at the time!) argh~

2. I will trash pick-dumpster dive almost anywhere for a good piece of artsy trash (I make my husband & boys crazy with this)

3. I am a horror, thriller, comedy movie junkie. I would rather sit home painting- sculpting and watching a movie with the family than go out with friends.

4. I volunteer as a sexual assault and domestic abuse counselor/advocate/responder by responding to hospitals and police stations to help the victim through their crisis.

5. I add maple syrup to almost everything (marinade steaks, homefries -til carmelized, sweeten cheescake, make salad dressings). Mainly because we do our own mapling at the family farm and boil it over a coal fire each late winter...almost that time again.

6. I might be the luckiest girl in the world. Family, Art & Friends-is all I will ever need to be happy.

Now here are the six wonderful people I am tagging!

Janell Berryman of Pumpkin Seeds Folk Art

Marie of Marie Patterson Studio

Tracy of The Vintage Sister

Jenny of The Polka Dot Pixie

Sam of Sammo

Elaine of Artful-Spirit/Alphabet Studio

Please check them out ...why you ask? Because they rock!

Weekly Random with commentary

So, Janell (http://www.pumpkinseedsoriginals.blogspot.com/) started this with the "Show your shoes" challenge.

This week I am picking the random subject and I chose "Show your Pantry"!! That's right, just like shoes, your food choices say something about you and your family. Show it in all its cluttered glory!

Now in the interest of full disclosure, I did just go food shopping, to the tune of $380.00 (2 weeks worth), hence the reason I chose the pantry. Go ahead..pick it apart~

On the top shelf of my pantry you will barely see my 20+ cookbooks hidden behind umpteen jars-cans of coffee, Hot Cocoa and drink mix. Along with the empty canisters I save for the project that may pop up in my head (hopefully) at some point in the near future~

Duncan Hines had a sale-that's all I have to say about that.

Can you barely see the Fiber one cereal peeking out from between Honey Combs & Cocoa pebbles? The Fiber one is for us geriatrics in the abode, The Hot Oat Bran and Oatmeal too. Gotta stay regular and keep that cholesteral down.

Ready to serve bacon-Don't judge me... and no it does not need to be refrigerated until opened!

Do you see the 5 different brands of peanut butter that are all opened!!?? KIDS! Plus everytime we go to the cabin, we food shop there and bring the PB home-hence so many jars.

Michael's Italian Grandmother would have a few words to say about Francesco Rinaldi sauce being in our pantry...shhhh.

Finally, the ever messy door shelving system that holds things I use once maybe 2x a year or simply never but cannot ge rid of. I keep the Wasabi next the the Liquid Smoke and Sterno oil. The Sardines are next to the brown sugar which is next to sesame oil, which resides next to mint jelly!

Now, Marie (http://www.mariepatterson.blogspot.com/) If your pantry is alphabetized, I will never come to your home again!

Enjoy my friends..

Acrylics

These art cards are some recent "eye" paintings I did inside tiny brass filigree frames. I then coated the inside of the frame with UHU glue to make it look like glass. This worked really well. I am fond of these ACEO's and sorry to see them go. But I suppose to earn a living, selling ones art is required. Enjoy~

Show your WHAT?

It was suggested by a friend to show my shoes. Shoes can say a lot about a person. Not the costly or designer ones we wear when required. Just the daily ones that we wear for Comfort.

There was a time when I wouldn't dare leave the house in anything less than an over-priced eye catching pair of girlie goodies.

These days, I save those for special occassions...very special occassions come to think of it.

So, here they are my everyday beat up kicks that I adore because I don't have to tie them! Yep, that's how I roll.

Show me your shoes...send me the link so I can take a peek~

Spring is coming, oh and an intervention perhaps..

I am at it again.

Finished this 4:00 am this morning...and no I don't have a choice! My body and mind will not allow me to rest when I am this creative...ARGH!

I seem to be a full blown PC addict. PaperClay addict, that is.

I cannot put the stuff down. It calls me in my sleep. Not even the good ole telee gives me relief (of course the writers strike doesn't help much).

If I am out, all I want to do is go home and sculpt. I am constantly thinking about the next piece to start after I just finished a 16 hour jag on one!! Oh, treatment centers of America-help a sister out!! Betty Ford, please hear my call and start a program for addicted artists who cannot walk away from the call of the clay!! LMAO

How do these things happen? Did I find my bliss this past August when I cautiously tried it for the first time..? I think so!

Here are the in Process pics.. enjoy~

~Artfully Eventful~

~Queen of Her Nest~

Wow, what a creative week this has been for me. It all started on Flickr when I found an amazing artist who got me so jazzed about the upcoming Spring/Easter months.

Her pieces are as sweet as spun sugar and she has a personality to match. When I discovered she was selling items on Pfatt, I dove in! Pfatt is an online folk art marketplace with outstanding artisans that create TDF (To die for) one of a kind treasures.

I stayed up until 2am (midnight their time) to make sure I got in on time to purchase the sweetest lil chick EVER!

Take a peek at Polka Dot Pixies work... I bought "Lil Party Peep in blue"

http://www.pfattmarketplace.com/polkadotpixie.html

I was so inspired buy her use of color and the instant sweet gentle -MAKE YOU SMILE-subjects, that I was compelled to create the above bluebird for almost 16 hours, non-stop!!

So here I sit when life comes into focus...

~Monica & Xavier from Buckcherry~

Here I sit, rearranging my "studio" and cleaning up. I have the radio playing, hubby on the couch fast asleep with all 3 puppers asleep next to him. One cat MIA for now and the other chasing a stink bug-hope she gets it. Both boys playing Xbox 360 Live (I hate it).

While I am fretting over where to put what and what to keep for the my next "masterpiece" on comes "I'm Sorry" by Buckcherry" on the radio. I instantly hit the wall, realizing I need to stay focused on what is really important in life. You see many moons ago while in high school I had a friend Monica Massaro. Monica, our friend Kris and me were always getting into some trouble or another. We were Rock-n-Roll chicks and lived that way. Monica used to pretend to be my friends Mom (Monica was a few years older) so we could all hang out and spend the night watching horror movies and staying up til the wee hours . Truth is we were pretty tame but we felt fierce..free will and all.
Kris and I even ranaway together and stayed with Monica until she had enough of us and turned us in!! I laugh like hell now. I could never blame her..we were pests. I haven't seen Monica since then and I never will again. I later found out that Monica LOVED Buckcherry and of course Aerosmith (who doesn't), she saw every show she could, met everyone she could. Monica actually got out there and lived life. How many of us can actually say that? Turns out we lived 20 minutes away from each other for all these years. Wish I found her on Myspace before.....

The song playing on the radio reminded me that she was murdered this past summer. I cannot get past what terror she must have felt in her last moments as a stranger entered her home as she slept. The killer was later found to be a suspected serial killer, killing since at least 1996. He killed her it seems before he could do what he intended because she fought him so hard. Doesn't surprise me one bit, You go GIRL!
